My name is Alex Siegman.

I work at ForeFlight, a software company developing electronic flight bags for pilots.

While my official title is “DevOps Engineer,” I come from a background of primarily system administration. I work with our server and data teams to automate everything under the sun, as well as helping to maintain all our services.

This involves working daily with Bash, Python, Ruby, Chef, PostgreSQL, AWS and many other technologies.

Before joining ForeFlight, I spent several years in Austin, TX helping companies get their build pipelines setup and their AWS usage optimized. Prior to that, I did mostly Windows and Linux System Administration on physical hardware, at one point maintaining one of the largest MySQL databases known (at the time) to Percona.

There’s a more extensive list of technologies I’ve worked with on my LinkedIn Profile.

About this site

I don’t particularly have a use for my personal website. I hope to someday improve my writing skills by writing about various topics, especially my passion for aviation. This site is mostly a place for me to try my hand at various web technologies when I get the itch and the time.
